Rémi Sciuto delivers here his 4th album La révolte des couverts (the cutlery's revolt) with his band Wildmimi.
Usually very sought after as a sideman (Le Sacre du Tympan de Fred Pallem, Caratini Jazz Ensemble, Marc Ducret, Michel Legrand...), we find him here as a leader. Being an author, composer, performer and arranger, this record is in the continuation of his previous releases with an even more assumed "pop" and sometimes "rock" musical vein.
The form of the album remains open but articulates clearly around songs.
As for the band, we find the usual artists, the finest of current music and / or improvised music: Vincent Taeger on drums, Fred Pallem and Hervé Jegousso on bass, Antonin Rayon on piano and B3, and the Trio Journal Intime (Frederic Gastard on saxophones, Matthias Malher on trombone, Sylvain Bardiaux on trumpet). Rémi Sciuto, as for him, sings and plays keyboards, saxophones, flutes, and clarinets.
This album is about a failed revolution, but one that has aroused and still arouses lots of hopes in progressive circles around the world. It is the cutlery's revolt... this is not an allegory, we are talking here of knives, forks, and other peelers indeed...
In what way was this struggle more admirable than any other? Well what is at stake it is not that much on substance than on form, because the emancipatory struggles are by nature legitimate.
It is the sudden disappearance of the Peeler, natural leader of the cause, that, instead of plunging the insurgents into discord and quarrels for power, will allow the birth of a collegial commanding leaving an unforgettable mark on the history of activism.
